POSITION:  Chain Assembler

REPORTS TO:  Assembly Supervisor

Progressive Systems Inc. has an exciting new opportunity for a Chain Assembler! As a Chain Assembler you will report to the Assembly Manager.  You will be responsible for using part drawings and assembly specs to assemble feed chain for custom industrial machinery.

Job Summary

The person hired for this position will work in our chain department assembling feed chain.  This is an entry level position. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assemble new chain assemblies
  • Disassemble and refurbish old chain assemblies
  • Operate the following equipment:
    • Drill Press
    • Hydraulic Press
    • Belt Sander
    • Parts Tumbler
    • Misc. Power and Hand Tools
  • Read mechanical prints and specs
  • Pull parts from inventory to assemble chain
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area

Education and Experience

  • Assembly experience helpful but not required
  • High School Diploma

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Skilled with mechanics.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently following general procedures.
  • Reliable and punctual (1st shift M-F 6am-2:30pm)

Welder

Department: Welding
Type: Full-Time

We are looking for welders to perform any combination of tasks. Setting up and operating all types of welding machines that join together parts of fabricated metal products as specified by mechanical drawings. Must plan, lay out, set up and perform some to most work assignments independently.  Must use correct templates and accurately position and fit parts with close  tolerances  in accordance with mechanical drawings and instructions on shop drawing.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and operates welding machines.
  • Reads and interprets mechanical drawings and shop routing.
  • Plans, lays out and performs welding
  • Selects and uses correct welding rods, wire and clamps.
  • Ability to weld short and long production runs with repetition.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years old+
  • Some Vo-Tech training and/or six months experience
  • Basic knowledge of how to use welding machines

Essential Functions:
Mathematical Skills 

  • Ability to add and subtract using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.

Reasoning Ability 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CNC Machinist

Department: Machining
Type: Full-Time
Minimum schooling: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Setting up a machine to make the proper sequence of cuts. This could entail writing programming instructions or making adjustments to a program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate CNC mills 
  • Perform Quality self-inspection 
  • Edit programs at the control
  • Be accountable for quality of work performed with little supervision
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment 
  • Perform daily / weekly / monthly PM checks
  • Operate a fork truck in a safe manner
  • Daily focus on quality and productivity
  • All other tasks assigned

Qualifications:

  • 18 years old+

  • 6 months of machining experience
  • Experience setting up and operating of CNC machines
  • Experience reading and the ability to understand engineering drawings
  • CNMC Vertical and horizontal milling experience and Fanuc control is a plus
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Work well independently or on a team
  • A continued desire to continuously improve on skill set and technical knowledge

Electrical Assembler

Department: Assembly - Electrical

Using drawings, photos, and schematics to assemble custom industrial machinery

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Wiring electrical components on machinery
  • Conduit threading, routing, and bending
  • Laying out, mounting, and wiring components on electrical panels
  • Electrical circuit testing and trouble shooting
  • Performing soldering, which is the process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal (solder) into the joint
  • Utilize hand held tools such as a hand held screw and drill gun and general mechanical work
  • Drilling and tapping
  • Perform all work in accordance with LO/TO procedures, quality standards and established  safety procedures
  • All other tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • 18 years old+
  • Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Capable of working on the occasional field service or installation project as part of a team

  • Punctual and reliable
